Traeger Grills are some of the best Smokers on the market, and they make smoking perfect baby back ribs a breeze. The 3-2-1 method is one of the most popular methods for smoking ribs and it is the best way to get perfect results. This method requires smoke, time, and a little patience, and you will be rewarded with the most delicious ribs you’ve ever tasted.

Ingredients & Materials Needed

You will need a Traeger Grill, a rack of baby back ribs, your favorite BBQ rub, and your favorite BBQ sauce. You will also need some aluminum foil, a few chunks of wood for smoking, and a digital thermometer. It is also helpful to have a spray bottle of apple juice and some kitchen shears.

Prepare & Rub

Start by removing the membrane from the bone side of the rack of ribs. This can be done using a paper towel and your fingers, or you can cut it off using kitchen shears. Then, season your ribs liberally with your favorite BBQ rub. Make sure to cover all sides, including the bone side. Once the ribs are rubbed down, place them in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the flavor to penetrate the meat.

Smoke & Cook

Next, turn your Traeger Grill on and set it to 225°F. Place a few chunks of wood on the grill and allow it to heat up for 10 minutes. Once the wood is smoking, add the ribs to the grill and close the lid. Allow the ribs to smoke for 3 hours, and make sure to spray them with apple juice every hour.

Wrap & Finish

After 3 hours, remove the ribs from the grill and wrap them tightly in aluminum foil. Add a few tablespoons of apple juice to the foil and place the ribs back on the grill. Lower the temperature to 175°F and cook for 2 hours. After 2 hours, open the foil and brush the ribs with your favorite BBQ sauce. Place the ribs back on the grill and cook for an additional hour. Check the temperature of the ribs with a digital thermometer to make sure they are done before serving.

Enjoy!

Once the ribs are done, remove them from the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes. The 3-2-1 method is the best way to make perfect baby back ribs on your Traeger Grill. The slow and low cooking method ensures that your ribs are moist, tender, and full of flavor. Serve the ribs with your favorite sides and enjoy!
